RENT-TO-OWN PROCESS
Engagement Session
We will start with an information session on affordable housing and the rent to own program where full details of project are shared with off-reserve members. The site location, the drafted plans of homes, the cost of project and the funders. These will be on a continuous basis throughout project.
Provided applications to be filled out in person, and/or by email. The rent to own application, Equifax and TransUnion forms were given to each applicant.
The application deadline was set for all documentation to be provided within 60 days
Review & verification of Information on Applicants
The review committee was identified, and verification of information provided on application.
- 2 Years of Tax Assessments
- Confirmation of current Employment for the past 2 years
- Confirmation on previous rental history, by providing Landlord reference letter for past 10 years.
- 1 year Bank Statement showing us that rent has been paid.
- Provide a credit report and if you don’t have one, Submit application for credit report from Equifax & Transunion
- Confirmation of Indigenous ancestry (Treaty Card, Metis or Inuit ID Card)
Once complete we will prepare each file to be reviewed by the independent selection committee.
Selections by Committee & Approved by the Board
- Posted for Independent Selection committee to be identified, professionals in rentals, real estate, social workers, health care providers and justice programs.
- The review process commenced, and recommendations of potential homeowners were prepared, and all information used was based on what was submitted by each applicant.
- The Board reviewed and approval the selections that were done by the independent selection committee.
- Candidate is notified of approval
